From searching to download – first steps

1. The search page: narrow and combine

After opening the search page you can see all search functions of the photo agency delosfoto:

- central search (top of the screen display)
- location-dependent search (on the left of the screen display)
- special search (lower part of the left-side screen display)

A search step will be executed immediately when activating one of those functions. For combining the different functions, successive search steps will be executed while the previous settings will be retained.

Please choose the image's most convenient characteristic and narrow down the results according to other characteristics which are important for your purposes.

1.1 Central search

1.1.1 Choose your presetting

In the central search you can at first start a fulltext search. Enter a keyword that describes your specific need. For the connection of two keywords please use " + ":

If the keyword is part of our picture descriptions, appropriate proposals will be made.
Additionally, you also search for formal characteristics (e. g. lighting, time of day, predominant colour pixels, author, sorting by lowest price level/latest pictures):

1.1.2 Arrange your search steps

Basically, in the central search all search steps can be arranged. The results and the number of found images will be displayed as well as the desired number of pages on which the images are to be shown. Per page, 30 images are displayed . You can switch between the search results by using the page selection menu. On the top of the screen display your chosen keys will be displayed under the caption "Selected categories".

By pressing "Reset search", you can restart the search from the beginning. To get further results please use the function "Next" of your browser. If you do not wish to reset the whole search, you can also change only a specific category from the presetting. For instance, you can redefine the chosen location as shown in the example below.

1.2 Local-dependent search

In the local-dependent search you can narrow down by geographical criteria. You can either search generally or in graduation concerning the following categories:

- country (e. g. Spain, Germany)
- state or federal state (e. g. Andalusia, Brandenburg)
- one particular city (e. g. Granada, Potsdam)

The click on a continent displays all countries for which delosfoto provides images. Additionally, you can find each UNESCO World Heritage Site situated in the single countries.
The click on a country leads you to a small window which displays all states with visual contents. A further click leads to the particular cities.

1. 3 Special search

In the special search you can specify your search according to aesthetic or topical criteria. Our category classification corresponds largely to the standards of the IPTC-NAA.
The following categories are available:

- General (e. g. perspective, picture layout, number and type of motifs, style)
- Sentiment (picture impression, e. g. “Joy”)
- Nature (e. g. plants, animals, landscape, weather, rock)
- Culture (e. g. architecture, places of interest, religion, education)
- Economy (e. g. industry sector, occupation areas, trademarks, currency)
- Lifestyle (e. g. free time, habitation, eating and drinking, health)
- events of the day concerning the areas politics, sports, catastrophe or war

Partially it is possible to further specify within the single categories (like: nature → animal → bird → species). You can also switch between the chosen categories or generally search for results in one subcategory (like: “animals”).

2. Detailed view

2.1 Find out and preselect

A click on the detailed view or “Prices and details” opens a new window with the enlarged detailed view. Below the picture you can directly learn about the royalty of the most inexpensive print usage (small image, low circulation).

You also get the necessary information about the technical quality, the number of pixels, the downloadable file size and the available file format. Additionally, you can start a similarity search by choosing characteristic keywords:

3. Price calculation and download

Via the detailed view you arrive our integrated price calculator. Here you can effectively calculate the picture price according to your specific usage purpose:

If you are not logged in or registered as a customer yet, you will be forwarded to the relevant pages.

Before following one of those links, please save the image on your desktop. So you can easily relocate it by entering the article number in the central part of the search.

If you are logged in as a customer, you can immediately start the download of the image. We will promptly confirm the download via email.
